Deadline, LLC is the holding entity for Deadline (also known as Deadline Hollywood), an entertainment-industry news site.
Deadline has been a brand of Penske Media Corporation (PMC) since 2009. PMC's chairman and CEO is Jay Penske. PMC also owns Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Rolling Stone, WWD, Artforum, and ARTnews, among other titles. In June 2026, PMC completed acquisition of the remaining Vox Media assets not purchased by James Murdoch's Lupa Systems, combining them into a new PMC subdivision named PMX.
Deadline was founded as the blog Deadline Hollywood Daily by journalist Nikki Finke in 2006. Finke sold it to Penske Media (then Mail.com Media) in June 2009 for a reported low-seven-figure sum. Finke left the company in November 2013; she died in 2022.
