Dataforsyningen National Geodata Distribution Platform of Denmark

Overview

Dataforsyningen (dataforsyningen.dk) is Denmark's national distribution platform for geographic and basic public data, operated by the Danish Agency for Climate Data (Klimadatastyrelsen). It serves as the primary access point for authoritative Danish geodata, offering downloads and API services for a wide range of geographic information.

Background

Dataforsyningen was previously known as Kortforsyningen (the Map Supply). It is the national distribution channel for geographic data produced by Klimadatastyrelsen (formerly the Agency for Data Supply and Infrastructure, and prior to that the Agency for Data Supply and Efficiency). The agency is listed as a member of EuroGeographics and provides Denmark's national spatial data infrastructure (NSDI). The platform was created to make authoritative Danish infrastructure data widely and freely available for professional users and the general public.

Collections and Holdings

The platform provides access to: topographic maps and orthophotos; authoritative addresses, road names, and coordinates for all Danish addresses; property boundaries, cadastral maps, and land parcel data; building footprints and other infrastructure data; Danmarks Højdemodel (DHM) — a comprehensive LiDAR-derived elevation model covering all of Denmark; historical maps; climate data; and vector tiles. Data are available for download or via web services (WMS/WFS/WMTS and REST APIs). All data are provided by Klimadatastyrelsen as authoritative government data.

Access and Usage

Creating a user account and token is required to access data or web services on Dataforsyningen. A QGIS plugin is available to simplify integration of Dataforsyningen services into the popular open-source GIS application. Much of the data is freely available to all users under open data principles.
