data.gov.sg is Singapore's official government open data platform, first launched in 2011 as a one-stop portal for publicly available datasets from government agencies. It is managed by the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) and is an initiative of the Ministry of Finance. The portal was revamped in July 2015 to go beyond a simple data repository, incorporating interactive data visualizations and data-driven articles to make government data more accessible to the public. In April 2016, a Developer's Portal was added to provide easier access to real-time data via APIs. The platform serves as a central pillar of Singapore's Smart Nation vision.
data.gov.sg hosts over 5,000 datasets from more than 70 government agencies, covering domains such as environment, housing, transport, health, demographics, and public finance. The portal provides both static datasets for download and real-time APIs for ongoing data streams such as weather, dengue cluster locations, and HDB resale prices. The platform sees approximately 350,000 monthly visitors and handles over 13 million API calls per month.
All datasets on data.gov.sg are free for use — for both commercial and personal purposes — under the Singapore Open Data Licence. Users can download files directly or access data programmatically via APIs. Registration is available for higher rate limits and priority support but is not required for basic access.
