Tucson, Arizona, USA
The Daily Wildcat (formally the Arizona Daily Wildcat) is the award-winning, editorially independent, student-run news outlet serving the University of Arizona and greater Tucson. It publishes daily online and a monthly print edition distributed on campus and around Tucson.
The paper traces to Sage Green and Silver, a monthly journal that debuted in January 1899 under the encouragement of university president Millard Mayhew Parker. It went through a series of name and format changes -- University of Arizona Monthly Magazine (1900), University Life (1908), Arizona Life (1910), Arizona Weekly Life (1911), back to University Life (1912) -- before adopting the Arizona Wildcat masthead in 1915. The Princeton Review named it Best College Newspaper in its 2006 edition of The Best 361 Colleges. In 2010 it won the Associated Collegiate Press Online Pacemaker award.
