The Daily Cartoonist (TDC) is a trade news website covering the cartooning industry, including newspaper comic strips, editorial cartooning, webcomics, graphic novels, and animation.
Alan Gardner founded The Daily Cartoonist on October 5, 2005, and ran it as sole contributor and editor through 2016. Andrews McMeel Universal then owned and operated the site from 2016 to 2022, with D.D. Degg and Mike Peterson serving as contributing editors. Gardner and Andrews McMeel finalized Gardner's repurchase of the site in January 2023, and it now operates as an independent publication under The Daily Cartoonist, LLC.
The site received the Ink Bottle Award from the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, presented to Gardner in 2023 for his contributions to the profession.
