Christopher Crain is senior executive vice president and chief investment officer of Crain Communications Inc., the family-owned publisher of business titles including Ad Age, Automotive News, Crain's Chicago Business, Crain's New York Business, Crain's Detroit Business, Modern Healthcare and Pensions & Investments. A graduate of Rollins College and a member of the Crain family, nephew of former company president Rance Crain, he began at the company as associate publisher of Crain's Detroit Business in 2005, helping drive digital initiatives, and helped launch the company's UK publication, Crain's Manchester Business, in 2007. He was named associate publisher of Advertising Age, promoted to vice president in 2008, and named group publisher of Pensions & Investments, Business Insurance, Workforce Magazine and the newly acquired Staffing Industry Analysts group in 2009, at age 33. He was named executive vice president and director of strategic operations in 2013 and senior executive vice president in 2017, when Rance Crain retired after 57 years with the company and KC Crain became president and COO. As a strategic guide for the company, Crain oversees new growth initiatives and the development of non-advertising revenue streams, and continues to serve as group publisher of the Staffing Industry Analysts Group.
