Auckland, New Zealand
Craccum is the student magazine of the University of Auckland, New Zealand, owned and operated by the Auckland University Students' Association (AUSA), which also runs the 95bFM radio station. Its name is a scrambled acronym derived from "Auckland University College Men's Common Room Committee."
Craccum was founded in 1927. It was rebranded "Torso" for its final issues of 1989 before reverting to its original name. From 1970 the magazine published weekly print issues; after budget cuts it moved to monthly publication beginning in 2024. The editor was an elected student position from 1986 until 2020, when the role became an appointment made by AUSA's Craccum Administrative Board. Notable alumni editors include Tim Shadbolt, later mayor of Waitemata City and Invercargill, and Mike Rann, who served as Premier of South Australia from 2002 to 2011. Craccum won the Aotearoa Student Press Association's Best Publication award in 2007 and again in 2022.
