Cowichan Valley Citizen

The Cowichan Valley Citizen is a free newspaper covering Duncan and the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, published by Black Press Group Ltd.

The domain cowichanvalleycitizen.com was registered in 2005. The paper became the region's primary local newspaper after Black Press, which had purchased the competing Cowichan Valley Citizen during a 2014 labour dispute at its own Cowichan News Leader Pictorial, closed the News Leader Pictorial entirely in April 2015. The News Leader Pictorial had itself been formed through a long line of mergers dating back to the Cowichan Leader (founded 1905) and other local titles.

The paper covers Duncan and Cowichan Valley local news, crime, politics, and community events, and maintains a digitized archive from 2015 onward.
