Connecticut Public Broadcasting founded in 1962 as a nonprofit broadcast station is Connecticut's only public media service. Beginning as the National Education Television Network, it was the nation’s 68th public broadcasting station. Connecticut Public Radio, in 1978, joined Public Broadcasting Service. They are now the parent broadcast organization for three other local stations (CPTV, CPTV Spirit, PBS KIDS) and Connecticut Public Radio.
They are members of PBS and NPR.
