Colorado Public Radio founded in 1991 is a nonprofit broadcast station based in Centennial, Colorado. Two early public stations merged in 1991 to create Colorado Public Radio (CPR). A few years later, the station would close and become a satellite station of KCFR. Eventually, CPR added more satellite stations. For several years, programming offered only classical music and NPR broadcasts. New satellite stations were acquired by 2001, broadening the reach of CPR. CPR took over management of KRCC (Of Colorado College). While Colorado College still owns the license, the daytime programming comes from NPR and other CPR's full-power stations are split between three services. Seven broadcast NPR news and talk, five air classical music with hourly NPR news updates, and three air adult album alternative music programs coming from CPR's all-news format. CPR News offers programs like "Colorado Matters," local news broadcasts, national and international news.
