Colorado News Sources Collaborate on Reporting

The Colorado News Collective, or COLab, founded in 2020, member of the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN), is a nonprofit collective of news organizations in Colorado. It began as a discussion between Colorado news outlets about the need for collaboration on stories while the Colorado Media Project at the University of Denver, along with the Gates Family Foundation were surveying Coloradans about what they required from local news. Also, the Colorado Press Association made plans to work with the Colorado Independent to strengthen local journalism. All of these efforts created COLab. COLab works to create an informed and engaged civic community by helping Colorado news outlets produce more fact-based news, helping to build trust with the news outlets.
