Juneau, Alaska, USA
CoastAlaska is a nonprofit management service organization for public radio stations in Southeast Alaska and the Aleutians, providing shared accounting, engineering, fundraising and administrative support, along with a shared news editor coordinating coverage across member newsrooms. Member stations include KRBD (Ketchikan), KSTK (Wrangell), KTOO/KXLL/KRNN (Juneau), KFSK (Petersburg), KCAW (Sitka) and KUCB (Unalaska).
CoastAlaska began in 1994 as an informal alliance among Southeast Alaska's public radio stations in response to reductions in state and federal funding, and incorporated as a nonprofit in 1997. It later added KUCB in Unalaska as a full member. As of 2024, CoastAlaska operates on an annual budget of about $4.3 million, funded by member station fees, underwriting and grants, including from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
