Clovis, New Mexico (print, historical)
The Clovis News Journal was a daily newspaper serving Clovis and Curry County, New Mexico, before merging with the Portales News-Tribune in 2016 to form The Eastern New Mexico News.
Its roots trace to the Clovis News, first published May 1, 1907, by Arthur E. Curren, and the rival Clovis Journal, founded by Thomas J. Mabry in 1909. The two competing papers merged April 1, 1929, to form the Evening News-Journal, later known as the Clovis News-Journal. Owner Clovis Media Inc. acquired the paper from Freedom Communications in 2012. In 2016, the News Journal merged with the Portales News-Tribune to form The Eastern New Mexico News.
The paper covered Clovis and Curry County local news, agriculture, and Cannon Air Force Base coverage over more than a century of publication.
The Clovis News Journal name is no longer in active publication; its successor, The Eastern New Mexico News, continues coverage of the area.
