CivicStory (formerly NJ Arts News) founded in 2009 is a digital news website. Creative Director, Susan Haig, an orchestra and opera conductor, began this site to address gaps in TV news, but expanded it's goal to broaden awareness of civic-cultural nonnprofits. Renamed CivicStory in 2015 and changing to a tax-exempt status, the focus changed to civics, sustainability, and urban efforts for creative change. CivicStory's holds a video archive that encompasses topics like creative urban growth, environmental stewardship, civic education, humanities, music, and arts. Many of these videos have aired on local broadcast and cable stations. CivicStory, since 2012, has held public forums on the civic role and purpose of news, and the impact of news media on our democracy and environment.
