Founded by Anthony Melchiorre. Larry Buchalter is the firm's key principal.

History

Chatham became McClatchy's largest creditor and won the company's bankruptcy auction in 2020, paying $312 million and ending the McClatchy family's ownership of the chain. Chatham has held a controlling interest in Postmedia since 2016.

Conflicts of interest

In 2023, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charged Chatham and founder Anthony Melchiorre with improper fixed income securities trading; Chatham and Melchiorre agreed to pay $19 million in disgorgement and penalties.
