Overview

CGSpace is an open-access knowledge repository operated by CGIAR, the global research partnership for food security formerly known as the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research. The repository aggregates research outputs, publications, and knowledge resources from CGIAR research centres and programmes around the world, making them freely accessible to the public.

Institutional Context

CGIAR is a global partnership of research organisations working to advance food security, reduce poverty, and address environmental sustainability in developing countries. Its network includes fifteen research centres located across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. CGSpace serves as the primary open-access repository for CGIAR's collective research output, integrating materials from centres including the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Nairobi, Kenya; the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT); the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI); and others. The repository is hosted and managed by ILRI.

Collections and Holdings

CGSpace contains hundreds of thousands of items including peer-reviewed journal articles, working papers, technical reports, policy briefs, book chapters, conference proceedings, datasets, multimedia resources, and grey literature produced by CGIAR researchers. The collections span agricultural sciences, food systems, climate change, natural resource management, nutrition, gender, and development policy. The repository supports both discovery and download of full-text materials, and its contents are indexed in major international databases.

Access and Usage

CGSpace is freely accessible at cgspace.cgiar.org without registration. All materials are available under open access or Creative Commons licences. The repository uses the DSpace platform and supports OAI-PMH harvesting for integration with other discovery systems.
