Online (Sri Lanka / Ceylon diaspora)
The Ceylon Memory Project is a digital archive of photographs of Ceylon (present-day Sri Lanka) drawn from contributors' family albums, covering images up to the year 1972.
The project scans and archives albums and photographs submitted by contributors. Contributors retain rights to the images they submit; the project retains the right to publish selected images online and use them in exhibitions and publications for non-commercial purposes.
Over 1,000 images are available for viewing online. Few images predate 1915, but many date from before 1972. Contributed collections include family photographs from individuals connected to Ceylon's planting and colonial-era communities.
The archive is hosted online; contributors submit images along with background and biographical information about the people and albums pictured.
