60 Minutes is an American television news magazine broadcast on the CBS television network, known for reporter-centered investigative journalism, newsmaker interviews, and in-depth profiles.
60 Minutes was created by producer Don Hewitt and Bill Leonard and debuted September 24, 1968, hosted by Harry Reasoner and Mike Wallace, initially airing biweekly on Tuesday nights. It moved to a regular Sunday evening time slot in 1975 and has aired continuously since, making it the longest-running prime-time series in American television history. The program has won 26 Peabody Awards. In October 2025, Paramount named former journalist Bari Weiss to head CBS News; in December 2025, Weiss pulled a 60 Minutes segment on El Salvador's CECOT prison hours before its scheduled broadcast, a decision that drew criticism from some correspondents and producers.
Each episode typically features two or three segments of investigative reporting, interviews, and profiles on politics, foreign affairs, and other topics. Past and current correspondents have included Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, Ed Bradley, Diane Sawyer, Steve Kroft, and Lesley Stahl, among others.
60 Minutes airs Sunday evenings on CBS and is available for streaming through CBS's platforms, including video and transcripts of past episodes at 60 Minutes Overtime.
