Catherine Staub served as dean of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Drake University from 2022 until stepping down in June 2026. She joined the Drake faculty in 2015 and held the endowed Peggy Fisher and Larry Stelter Chair of Magazine Journalism, directing the E.T. Meredith Center for Magazine Studies before being named dean. Her professional background includes work as an associate editor at Meredith Corporation, a learning and development manager and communications consultant for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and founder and CEO of Lexicon Content Marketing, a Des Moines communications and brand-media firm. She holds four degrees from Drake University, including a doctorate in educational leadership, and serves as a judge for the American Society of Magazine Editors' Ellie Awards and as past head of the AEJMC Magazine Division.
