Diane Bruxvoort is a library administrator who served as dean of libraries at the University of North Texas (UNT) from 2018 until her retirement on March 31, 2025. She holds a bachelor's degree from Northwestern College in Iowa and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She began her career in public libraries in the Houston area, spending 17 years combined at the Harris County and Houston City public library systems, then spent ten years at the University of Houston, moving from head of access services to associate dean for collections. She joined the University of Florida in 2010 as senior associate dean, overseeing public services and collections across four libraries as well as special collections, exhibits, digital services, acquisitions and cataloging. In 2014 she became university librarian and director of libraries, special collections and museums at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, returning to the United States in 2018 to become dean of libraries at UNT. During her tenure at UNT, the university joined the Association of Research Libraries in 2023, and the library's digital archive, the Portal to Texas History, grew to exceed two million items. She served as president of the American Library Association's Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) after being elected president-elect in 2013, and was active in the UK's SCURL and SCONUL library organizations and the board of Research Libraries UK while at Aberdeen.
