Biography

Brendan DeMelle is executive director of DeSmog, the international journalism organization that investigates and reports on climate science misinformation campaigns, a role he has held since 2010. A graduate of St. Lawrence University, he is also a writer focused on media, politics and disinformation, and serves as chair of DeSmog UK, which merged its site with DeSmog's main operation in April 2021. Based in Seattle, DeMelle oversees DeSmog's editorial and organizational strategy, including its coverage of the oil and gas industry, corporate greenwashing and climate policy, and has announced staff promotions and expansions such as naming Geoff Dembicki global managing editor. DeSmog was founded in January 2006 by public relations executive James Hoggan.
