History

The Demopolis Times was founded in 1887. The paper was previously owned by Boone Newsmedia, Inc. (formerly Boone Newspapers, Inc.), a company controlled by the family of founder James B. "Jim" Boone Jr. The Demopolis Times ceased publication in June 2025, shortly after the sale to JM Media Group, according to the paper's own closing announcement.
