BLCK Press is a nonprofit newsroom and journalism training organization based in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, dedicated to cultivating journalists of color and producing news coverage that centers communities of color.
BLCK Press was founded in 2020 by journalist Georgia Fort, a few months after the murder of George Floyd, after Fort experienced barriers advancing her broadcast journalism career in the Twin Cities media market. For three years, BLCK Press produced a television news program, "Here's the Truth," which aired on the CW and won three regional Emmy Awards with 12 nominations. The organization trains early-career journalists of color through an annual training program and operates the affiliated Center for Broadcast Journalism, which provides youth ages 15-24 with equipment, curriculum and internship connections.
Founder Georgia Fort covered the killing of George Floyd and was one of two journalists present in the courtroom for Derek Chauvin's sentencing; her reporting has appeared on CNN, ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS affiliates.
