Jordan Bitove is owner and publisher of Torstar Corporation, which publishes the Toronto Star along with daily newspapers in Hamilton, Peterborough, the Niagara Region, and Waterloo Region, the Metroland Media Group, and a one-third stake in The Canadian Press. In 2020, Bitove co-founded NordStar Capital LP with former Fairfax Financial president Paul Rivett, which acquired Torstar for $52 million, taking the company private. Rivett left NordStar in 2022 amid disputes with Bitove, and Bitove took immediate sole ownership of Torstar in November 2022. Bitove founded Great Moments in Catering in 1990, which became Canada's largest privately held event catering company, and founded the experiential marketing company Vision Companies in 1998. He helped launch the Toronto Raptors, the first NBA franchise awarded outside the United States, was part of the ownership consortium that built the SkyDome (now Rogers Centre), and helped orchestrate Toronto's bid for the 2008 Olympics. He has served on the board of ClearStream Energy Services since 2013 and the board of trustees of SickKids Foundation since 2012, and received the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for philanthropic work. He is a graduate of Western University and holds the position of Honorary Consul to the Republic of North Macedonia.
