The University Heritage Archive is the historical record of the University of Birmingham and its predecessor and associated organisations, held by the Cadbury Research Library in the Muirhead Tower on the University's campus.
Archive material has been progressively deposited with Special Collections since 1965. The archive dates from 1828 onward and includes records of the Birmingham (later Royal) School of Medicine and Surgery (1828-1843), Queen's College (1843-1892), Mason Science College and Mason University College (1880-1900), the University of Birmingham (1900-present), and the Selly Oak Colleges, including Westhill College.
Records include complete runs of official University publications such as calendars, annual reports, regulations, syllabi, and examination papers; minutes of University committees; financial records; records of academic departments and corporate offices; student records, including records of the Guild of Students and student societies; correspondence; and photographs and plans. The Cadbury Research Library also holds papers of former staff and students not part of the official archive but related to it, and papers connected to Queen's College, Mason Science College, and the Selly Oak Colleges.
The Cadbury Research Library is located in the Muirhead Tower, University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham, and is open to staff, students, and members of the public with a Special Collections reader's card.
