Bowling Green, Ohio, USA
The BG News is the independent, student-run newspaper of Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in Bowling Green, Ohio, part of the university's converged BG Falcon Media operation alongside a weekly newscast, radio station and student-run PR agency.
The paper was founded in 1920 and was known as the Bee Gee News until it adopted its current name on September 21, 1951. It moved online in 2009 and switched from broadsheet to tabloid format in fall 2015, then to a weekly print cycle in the 2019-20 academic year amid declining advertising revenue industry-wide. The paper's 1988-89 staff was named the nation's top college daily newspaper by the Society of Professional Journalists. It moved into the Michael & Sara Kuhlin Center in fall 2016, home to the Media Convergence Lab where BG News staff work alongside BG24 newscast, Falcon Media Sports Network, Falcon Radio and Falcon Communications. The BG News Alumni Society, founded in 2002, marked the paper's centennial throughout the 2020-21 academic year.
