Alex Berkett is a media and technology dealmaker who joined Citi in January 2026 as Global Head of Media, Entertainment and Sports Investment Banking, reporting to Vis Raghavan via Dan Richards, the bank's global head of media and communications. He began his career in the investment banking division of Bear Stearns, spending eleven years focused on media and technology mergers and acquisitions and rising to Managing Director; he moved to JPMorgan following its 2008 acquisition of Bear Stearns. In 2009 he joined FiveWire Media, an investment firm he co-founded, and in 2010 he co-founded Townsquare Media with his FiveWire partners, serving as executive vice president responsible for corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, legal affairs, business development, corporate communications and capital raising, including the company's 2014 IPO; he helped grow Townsquare from about 60 to 310 radio stations along with 30 digital and live events companies before leaving in 2015. He then joined Viacom as senior vice president of corporate development, and following the 2019 Viacom-CBS merger became executive vice president of corporate development and strategy for the combined company, later promoted to chief corporate development and strategy officer in 2022. In that role he led transactions including the acquisition of Pluto TV, the formation of the SkyShowtime and BET+ joint ventures, the acquisition of a controlling stake in Miramax, and the divestitures of CBS Studio Center, Blackrock and CNET; The Hollywood Reporter named him to its Top 20 Dealmakers list in 2020. He remained with the company, by then renamed Paramount Global, through its 2025 acquisition by David Ellison's Skydance Media before departing at the end of that year and joining Citi in early 2026. Berkett holds a BA summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy.
