Basile, Louisiana (print/digital)
The Basile Weekly is a weekly newspaper serving Basile, Louisiana, and surrounding Evangeline and Acadia parishes, published by Louisiana State Newspapers, Inc.
The paper began publication in September 1964. It is now one of 23 local titles owned by Louisiana State Newspapers, a privately held Lafayette-based chain that traces its own origin to 1963, when Braxton "B.I." Moody III purchased the Rayne Acadian-Tribune and The Church Point News; the company incorporated under its current name in 1973.
The Weekly covers Basile town government, schools, and community news, with a digitized archive of more than 25,000 pages dating to 1966 available through Newspapers.com and the LSU Louisiana Digital Newspapers portal.
The paper is available in print and through an e-edition published via Louisiana State Newspapers' website.
