Ark Valley Voice is a nonprofit online news outlet covering Chaffee County and the Upper Arkansas Valley in Central Colorado, including Salida, Buena Vista, Poncha Springs and Nathrop.
Ark Valley Voice launched in 2018 as an LLC under publisher and managing editor Jan Wondra, who had previously launched theCorridor.biz for the Villager Media Group. In August 2022, the outlet converted to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit under its sister organization, the Truth Has a Voice Foundation, and became a full newsroom member of the Institute for Nonprofit News. It is an accredited member of the Colorado Press Association and sits on the editorial board of the Colorado News Collaborative.
Wondra has received multiple Colorado Press Association awards, including the CPA First Amendment Award, for the outlet's coverage of local government, civic accountability and community affairs in the Upper Arkansas Valley.
