The Arquivo Histórico Nacional is the national archive of Angola, overseen by the country's Ministry of Culture and headquartered in the capital, Luanda.
The archive originated in the Centro Nacional de Documentação e Investigação Histórica. As of 2016, a new archives building was reported under construction in the Camama area of Luanda to expand the institution's capacity.
The archive holds the Ndembu Archives and a set of slave registration books covering 1856 to 1875, both inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World International Register. Its documentary holdings on Angola's colonial economic and social history have been published in bulletins including "Arquivos de Angola" and, since the mid-1990s, the journal "Fontes & Estudos."
The archive is located on Rua Pedro Félix Machado in Luanda and hosts educational visits for students and researchers interested in Angola's documentary history.
