The National Archives of Andorra (Catalan: Arxiu Nacional d'Andorra) were established in 1975 under the direction of historian and civil servant Lídia Armengol i Vila, as an archival system of the Government of Andorra. The Archives and Documents Management Area is attached to the Ministry of Culture, and the main building is located at Prada Casadet in Andorra la Vella. The institution serves as the principal repository for the public records and documentary heritage of the Principality of Andorra.
The National Archives preserve and provide access to a broad range of primary source materials including letters, reports, notes, memoranda, photographs, audiovisual recordings, and other documents relating to Andorra's political, administrative, and cultural history. Holdings include:
The main genealogical repository of the national archives system is the National Historical Archive, also housed in the Prada Casadet building. Digitisation efforts have been ongoing since approximately 2010, with UNESCO subsidy support enabling collaboration with the Andorra National Library on projects that placed key historical documents in the World Digital Library.
The archives hold historical periodicals and press materials as part of their broader collections of Andorran documentary heritage. These complement the holdings of the Andorra National Library's hemeroteca, which contains a near-complete archive of Andorran periodicals from 1917 to the present.
The Archives are open Monday through Friday from 08:30 to 14:30. Researchers should contact the institution directly to arrange access to specific collections, particularly diplomatic archives. Address: Prada Casadet 8–12, AD500 Andorra la Vella, Andorra.
