Amy Jo Coffey, Ph.D., is director of the School of Journalism and Media at the University of Tennessee's College of Communication and Information, a position she began July 1, 2024, after a 17-year tenure at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC). At UFCJC, she was an associate professor in media production, management and technology and program manager for the college's online master's degree in Audience Analytics, teaching courses in audience analysis, media innovation and entrepreneurship, and telecommunication management and programming. Her research focuses on ethnic and non-English-language audiences and media economics, examining how advertiser valuation affects the provision of non-English programming in the United States, and has been published in the International Journal on Media Management, the Journal of Advertising Research and Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly. She served as chair of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication's Media Management, Economics, & Entrepreneurship division from 2015 to 2016, was named to the U.S. State Department's Fulbright Specialist Roster, and has been a visiting professor and researcher at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. She has also received grants from the National Association of Broadcasters and the U.S. Department of Defense.
