The Amsterdammer is an independent, student-run online publication covering the University of Amsterdam, the city of Amsterdam, and international news and magazine features. It describes itself as one of the largest student magazines in the Netherlands and publishes throughout the academic year.
The Amsterdammer was founded in March 2018. In March 2020, marking its second year, the publication conducted a survey of Dutch student media, finding that of roughly 45 student publications operating nationally, 87 percent were funded by their universities though 70 percent still considered themselves editorially independent.
