American Press Institute

The American Press Institute founded by Sevellon Brown (Providence Journal’s editor/publisher) in 1946, Based in Arlington, Virginia, Brown wanted  to improve professional, leadership and technical skills in news media. The original founders included Editor & Publisher Magazine and 27 other American daily newspapers. Currently, API, believing that journalism has power to connect and unify Americans, helps media reach for that connection by providing training, research, and assistance to American journalists.
