Anchorage, Alaska, USA
Alaska Journal of Commerce is a weekly business newspaper based in Anchorage, covering commerce, industry, resource development and economic policy across Alaska, including oil and gas, fisheries and mining. It sponsors an annual "Top Forty Under 40" recognition of young Alaska professionals.
The paper began publication February 14, 1977, as the Journal of Alaska Business and Commerce, retitled the Alaska Journal of Commerce & Pacific Rim Reporter later that year, and shortened to the Alaska Journal of Commerce on January 6, 1986. Morris Communications, a Georgia-based media company, acquired the Journal in 1995 and owned it for more than two decades. In February 2018, the Binkley Company, owner of the Anchorage Daily News, purchased the Alaska Journal of Commerce along with the Chugiak-Eagle River Star and the monthly Alaskan Equipment Trader from Morris Communications, completing Morris's exit from the Alaska newspaper market.
