Joseph 'Joe' Onditi Ageyo is editor-in-chief of Nation Media Group (NMG), the largest media house in East and Central Africa, overseeing editorial content for print, broadcast, and digital platforms. He began his media career as an unpaid intern at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), then joined KTN in 2000, rising from reporter to deputy news editor before leaving in 2005. He worked at NTV, part of Nation Media Group, before returning to KTN in 2012 as managing editor, a role he held until 2018. He then served as editorial director at Royal Media Services before joining NMG in April 2022 as editorial director for broadcast. He was promoted to group editorial director in November 2022 and to editor-in-chief in 2023. In November 2024, he was appointed to the board of the World Editors Forum. He holds an MSc in environmental governance from the University of Manchester, a postgraduate diploma in mass communication from the University of Nairobi's School of Journalism, a bachelor's degree in agribusiness management from Egerton University, and a PhD in communication and media studies from Daystar University, conferred in 2025. His doctoral thesis examined the discursive construction of climate change in Kenyan newspapers. He has co-moderated three Kenyan presidential debates and presided over coverage of four general elections and two national referenda.
