The Advocate (also called the MC Advocate or Montgomery Advocate) is the student-run newspaper of the Rockville campus of Montgomery College, a public community college in Montgomery County, Maryland. It is published online only at mcadvocate.com and serves as a designated public forum for news, information and expression from MC students, faculty and staff.
Montgomery College was founded in 1946 as Montgomery Junior College. Digitized copies of Montgomery College student newspapers held by the college library date from the 1940s through the 1990s. The Advocate is one of three campus-specific student newspapers at Montgomery College, alongside The Globe at the Germantown campus and The Excalibur at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus. The paper's faculty advisor has been Steve Thurston.
