The company was founded in 1986 by James Seibold and Sharon McRoy as a community-newspaper advertising business operating out of a small office in Alton, Illinois, with a mission to provide effective local advertising for small businesses. It has since grown into a digital local-news operation and is now part of Big Z Media (Metroplex Communications, Inc.), owned by Nick and Sheila Darr.
