The Agencia Cubana de Noticias (ACN), or Cuban News Agency, is a Cuban state news agency providing daily national and international news to Cuban media outlets on economic, political, social, cultural, scientific and sporting affairs. It maintains correspondents in every Cuban province and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, publishing text in Spanish, English, French and Russian along with photography, audio and video.
The agency began operating May 21, 1974, as the Agencia de Informacion Nacional (AIN), initially transmitting dispatches to national press outlets before expanding service to provincial newspapers and radio stations. Its first director was Jose Arias Cardona. On November 4, 2015, the agency officially changed its name to Agencia Cubana de Noticias (ACN), a rebrand intended to better reflect its mission and the specialization its journalists had developed over four decades. The agency marked its 50th anniversary in May 2024 at Havana's Jose Marti Memorial, where it received recognition including the Cuban Journalists' Union's El Maestro award, given for the first time to a Cuban press outlet.
